For owner-run home service businesses
Not getting enough calls?Let's figure out why.
You run the business. You shouldn't have to figure out websites, Google, advertising, reviews, missed calls, follow-up, and everything else that goes into getting new customers.
If you feel like your business should be getting more calls or booked jobs, tell me what's happening. I'll help figure out what's getting in the way and what we should fix first.
Free · About 15 minutes · No obligation
No pressure and no confusing marketing talk. Just a conversation about your business and what could be working better.
Does any of this sound familiar?
“The phone is not ringing enough.”
“I am paying for marketing, but I do not know what I am getting.”
“We get leads, but too many of them disappear.”
“I do not know whether I need Google Ads, SEO, a new website, or something else.”
“I am too busy working to learn all this marketing stuff.”
“My competitors seem to show up everywhere.”
“I know I need marketing. I just do not know what is actually working.”
“I tried this before and never knew whether it worked.”
You should not have to figure that out by yourself.
Here's the deal
You know your business. I know marketing.
You don't need to understand Google's algorithm, or what a CRM is, or why anybody cares about review counts. That's not your job. Your job is running crews, quoting work, and getting it done right.
My job is looking at the whole path a customer takes to reach you and finding the places they're falling off it.
I'm not going to tell you that you need SEO just because I sell SEO. And I'm not going to tell you to spend more on ads before we know what's happening to the leads you're already paying for. First we work out where the problem actually is. Then we fix the things that will make a difference.
Sometimes that's a new website. Sometimes it's a Google listing nobody ever finished setting up. Plenty of times it's something as unglamorous as a phone that rings out at 4:45 on a Friday.
Before you spend more on marketing, figure out what's actually wrong
Getting more customers does not always mean spending more money. Plenty of the businesses I talk to are already paying for enough. The problem is somewhere else.
- Customers cannot find your business on Google
- Your website is not convincing visitors to call
- Calls are getting missed
- Website leads are not getting a fast response
- Estimates are going out and nobody is following up
- You do not have enough reviews
- Advertising is sending people to the wrong place
- Leads you already paid for are falling through the cracks
Spending more money won't fix the wrong problem.First, we figure out what needs fixing.
How I find it
I look at the whole path, from search to sale
Between somebody needing your service and you cashing the check, there are six places a job can quietly get lost. I go through all six.
Step 1
Somebody searches for your service
Can they find you?
Step 2
They see your business
Do they trust you enough to call?
Step 3
They visit your website
Is it easy to contact you?
Step 4
They call or send a form
How quickly does somebody respond?
Step 5
They ask for an estimate
Does anybody follow up?
Step 6
They hire you
Are you turning them into reviews and referrals?
Six places to lose the job. Most businesses are losing them in two or three.
The tricky part is that it is almost never the step you would guess. Plenty of owners are sure they need a new website when the real problem is that nobody answers the phone at 4:45 on a Friday. More marketing is not always the answer. Sometimes you just need to fix what happens to the leads you already have.
Here's how we figure it out
No forms to fill out, no accounts to hand over, and nothing to sign to get started.
- 1
Tell me what is happening
We talk about your business. Where your customers come from now, what you have already tried, what you paid for it, and what you wish was different. You do not need to know what is wrong. That is my job.
- 2
I go look for the problems
I go through the places customers find you, contact you, and decide whether to hire you. Your website, your Google listing, your reviews, your ads if you run them, and what happens after a lead comes in.
- 3
We fix the right things first
You get a plain-English list of what I found and what it is costing you, in order. We start with whatever is most likely to put work on your calendar, instead of spending money on everything at once.
- 4
We keep watching it
Calls, leads, and booked jobs get tracked so we can both see what is working. When the business changes, the marketing changes with it.
Once we know
What we may fix
You don't have to pick from this list. It's here so you can see what the work looks like once we know what's actually wrong. Most businesses need two or three of these, not all six.
Get Found Locally
SEO, Google Business Profile, local visibility
Someone nearby needs what you do. They search, they look at the first few names, and they call one of them. The job is usually decided right there.
- Google profile
- Local search
- Service pages
- Map results
Turn Visitors Into Calls
Website design and conversion improvements
People are already landing on your website. The question is whether it gives them a reason to pick up the phone, or a reason to go back and try the next company.
- Fast on phones
- Easy to call
- Real photos
- Short forms
Get In Front Of Buyers
Google Ads and paid lead generation
Search ads put you in front of people who are looking for your service today. Done right it is the fastest way to add calls. Done wrong it is the fastest way to waste money.
- Search ads
- Right jobs
- Right area
- Cost per call
Get More Reviews
Reputation and review management
Your customers are happy. They just never got asked. Meanwhile the company with 300 reviews looks like the safer bet to somebody who has never met either of you.
- Automatic asks
- Steady flow
- Bad review alerts
- Reply help
Stop Losing Leads
Lead response, CRM, text follow-up, reminders, automation
A form that sat overnight. A quote nobody checked back on. Those were already paid for. Somebody else booked them.
- Fast first reply
- Estimate follow-up
- Old leads
- One inbox
Never Miss A Call
Missed-call text back, after-hours answering, AI phone systems
You are under a house, on a roof, or driving. The phone rings and you cannot get it. That homeowner is already dialing the next company on the list.
- Missed-call text
- After hours
- Overflow calls
- Nothing dropped
Why owners call me
I work with owner-run home service businesses. Everything here is built around how those shops actually run, not how a marketing agency would like them to run.
You do not have to know what is wrong
Most people call me because the phone is quieter than it should be and they have no idea why. That is a completely normal place to start. Working out the cause is the service.
I look before I sell you anything
I am not going to tell you that you need SEO just because I sell SEO. And I am not telling you to spend more on ads before we know what is happening to the leads you already get.
Plain English, every time
You will never get a report full of impressions and engagement rates. Calls, leads, booked jobs, and what things cost. If a number does not help you decide something, it does not go in.
Built for how your day actually goes
You do not have a marketing department and you are on a job when the phone rings. Anything we set up has to run without you and be readable in five minutes between calls.
You keep everything
Your website, your domain, your Google profile, your customer list, your phone number. All of it in your name, so nothing is held hostage if we part ways.
You talk to me, not a call center
You get the person doing the work. Questions get answered by somebody who knows your account, not a ticket queue and not a different account manager every quarter.
Who you're talking to
A person, not an agency
I'm Brad. I run Very Good Marketing Co. out of Hartselle, Alabama, and I've spent about fifteen years building websites and software before this. When you call, you get me. When something breaks, you text me. There's no account manager and no ticket queue.
I'm not here to impress you with marketing words. I'm here to help your business get more customers, and to be straight with you about what that's going to take.
More about how I workSo why isn't the phone ringing?
You don't need to know what kind of marketing you need. Tell me what's happening with your business and we'll work out what has to change.
I'll take a look at how you show up when somebody searches, what your website does with the people who land on it, what happens when a call or a form comes in, and where jobs are going quiet. Then I'll tell you what I found and what I'd do about it first.
Tell me what is going on
Six quick things and one real question. I read every one of these myself.
